Tier3 Hosting and Consulting LLC provides expert remote system and database administration services for dedicated and virtual machines hosted with Tier3, in your Datacenter, or with any other provider.  The remote system administration service provides ongoing, routine systems support to maintain a secure and stable system, at a much lower cost than hiring a full-time administrator or consultant by the hour.

System Admin (SA) Services Include:

  • Operating System Installation (Linux, Solaris or Windows)
  • Proactive server monitor, log file monitoring, security updates, and OS updates
  • Installations of 3rd Party Web Application Servers and Content Management Servers, control panels and add-on modules
  • OS User account creation or deletion
  • Apache configuration and optimization
  • Installation, Configuration and Monitoring of Daily Backups (provided by client)
  • Restoration of Backups, if needed
  • Local Firewall Administration (iptables), if included in the OS.
  • Anti-virus scanning and updates (provided by client)

Database Admin (DBA) Services Include:

  • Support for MySQL and MS SQL Server
  • Database Software Installation, updates and patches
  • Installation, Configuration and Monitoring of Daily Backups
  • Restoration of Backups, if needed
  • Bulk data import or export

Requirements (for non-tier3 hosted servers):

  • Servers must be accessible through SSH, VPN, or other Remote Access/Remote Desktop Service via the Internet.  (We will help you configure your firewall for secure remote access)
  • Servers must have remote KVM solution
  • Client must provide remote hands or on-site power reboots or other physical access

System and Database Administration services does not include the following:

  • 3rd Party or Custom Application Support beyond the base system, unless otherwise stated
  • Advance scripting or Web Development, unless otherwise stated
  • Installation of 3rd Party SSL Certificates
  • Migration of content, website, or database to another hosting provider
  • Travel and Expenses (if needed) are not included
  • Customer owned hardware support not included
  • Desktop or Mobile device support, or other non-server related issue
  • Software License not included
  • Backup Service, software and storage not include

Service Level Agreement

  • System and Database administration services fall under the standard Tier3 Service Level Agreement.
  • Client must perform basic due diligence to isolate a problem before opening a service request.  If a reported issue is found to be outside the scope or control of Tier3 support services, or caused by the clients actions, Tier3 reserves the right to charge hourly “Remote Hands” rate for the additional support as documented in the SLA.

Note: For all servers virtual or dedicated hosted with Tier3, a qualified system administrator is required to be assigned to each server to support the systems.  This can be any client provided system administrator, or provided as a service by Tier3.
